The lead author, Dr Maria Julia Delsin Gallo from the Ribeirão Preto School of Dentistry at the University of São Paulo in Brazil, presented the results of the study “Minimally Invasive Treatment of MIH in Children Reduces Bullying and Improves Oral Health-Related Quality of Life” – making her the winner of the IAPD Research Award 2025!
The study involved the examination of 30 children at a public school in Santa Rita do Passa Quatro, São Paulo, Brazil. The research focused on how oral health plays a role in the quality of life and on the influence of the social interactions of children suffering from MIH lesions in the anterior region.
Conclusion: The treatment process with Icon brings about a significant improvement in the quality of life in relation to oral health!
Following treatment, significant reductions in scores were observed in the emotional and social domains, indicating a positive influence on the children’s social interactions and a reduction in bullying.
We are delighted about this further scientific confirmation of infiltration treatment with Icon and congratulate Dr Gallo on the award!
