What is the current evidence regarding the efficacy of infiltration treatment for proximal caries? This question is addressed by the research team led by Dr Marcus Cebula and Dr Susanne Effenberger in their English-language research paper entitled ‘Resin Infiltration of Non-Cavitated Proximal Caries Lesions in Primary and Permanent Teeth: A Systematic Review and Scenario Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials’.
By analysing various scenarios and evaluating individual studies in detail, the authors conclude that infiltration treatment combined with non-invasive procedures is more effective than non-invasive measures alone.
The systematic review has been published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine.
