We are very pleased to announce the third IOWC - Interdentale Online World Congress on 5 December 2026 - broadcast live from the DMG Dental Training Center, Hamburg.
This year, we are focusing on children's oral health. The latest global prevalence of oral diseases in childhood underlines the importance of this topic, also in daily dental practice.
Paediatric dentists are central in laying the foundation for lifelong oral health, the development of teeth and jaws and overall well-being. High relevance of paediatric dentistry is not based solely on the fact that oral health is shaped at a very early stage of childhood – it is also the field that encompasses all other specialties of dentistry. Far beyond routine dental care, paediatric dentistry ensures customized interventions for different needs, especially by early intervention and preventive measures. Children's dental needs differ from those of adults and require individualized and tailored treatment.
It is therefore a tremendous honour for us, to organise the IOWC 2026 in collaboration with the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry (IAPD), bringing together international experts to provide accessible, high-quality education in paediatric dentistry.

* The event corresponds to the latest guiding principles for dental advanced training set down by the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Dentists (KZBV), the German Dental Association (BZÄK), and the German Society for Dental, Oral and Orthodontic Medicine (DGZMK), as well as to the evaluation criteria for advanced training sessions set down by the BZÄK and the DGZMK.
Speakers
Marina Papachroni graduated in 1995 from the Dental School of the University of Athens. She completed a three-year post-graduate program and received her Pediatric Dentistry Specialisation Certificate in 1999 and a two-year Master’s Degree in Dental Materials in 2001 from the same University. Thereafter, she has attended numerous Congresses, Courses and Continuing Education Programs.
She was the Treasurer and one of the foundation members of the Hellenic Academy of Clinical Dentistry until 2021 and a member of the Hellenic Society of Pediatric Dentistry and International Association of Pediatric Dentistry. Also she was a member of the Public Relations Committee of the IAPD. She was a non-paid instructor of the Postgraduate Clinic of Pediatric Dentistry Department of Athens University. Lately she lectures in different topics of Pediatric Dentistry’s field worldwide.
From 2023 she is IAPD Board Member and Chairperson of Public Relations Committee. Dr. Papachroni maintains from 2000, her private practice in Patras, Greece, with emphasis on Aesthetic and Microscopic Pediatric Dentistry.
Prof. Dr. Norman Tinanoff received his dental degree from the University of Maryland in 1971. After receiving his certificate and Master’s Degree in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Iowa, he spent another year at the V.A. Hospital in Iowa City in a research fellowship. He became Board Certified in Pediatric Dentistry in 1983. For 23 years he was at the University of Connecticut Health Center where he was director of the Pediatric Dentistry graduate program for 16 years. From 1999 to 2016 he was Chairman of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and the Department of Health Promotion and Policy at the University of Maryland. He received the title of Professor Emeritus in 2024. Prof. Dr. Tinanoff has authored or co-authored over 230 publications, primarily on fluoride mechanisms, antimicrobials, caries risk factors, early childhood caries and prevention. He also has served as the Science Chair for the first (Bangkok) and second (Rome) IAPD Global Summit.
Katrin Bekes, DMD, PhD (Dr. med. dent. habil.), MME, is Professor and Chair of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the University Clinic of Dentistry, Medical University of Vienna, Austria.
Dr Bekes graduated from Dental School at Martin Luther University, Halle-Wittenberg, Germany in 2002. She submitted her DMD thesis (Dr. med. dent.) the following year and later gained her PhD in Dental Medicine (2012). She completed a Master of Medical Education at the University of Heidelberg in 2016. After graduating, Dr Bekes was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Operative Dentistry and Periodontology at Martin Luther University, Halle-Wittenberg, Germany and prior to taking up her present position she was an Associate Professor in the Department of Paediatric Dentistry at that university.
She is currently President of the Austrian Society of Pediatric Dentistry, Board Member of the German Society of Pediatric Dentistry, and is also involved in the European and International Society of Pediatric Dentistry.
Prof. Bekes founded the only competence center for patients with MIH in Austria.
She has published 5 books within the field of pediatric dentistry.
