Description
The “weight-loss jab” has arrived in everyday practice: GLP-1 receptor agonists such as semaglutide are among the fastest-growing drug classes worldwide.
What does this mean for the mouth? Preclinical studies suggest anti-inflammatory and bone-protective effects on periodontal and peri-implant tissues, but clinical evidence is still scarce.
At the same time, dry mouth and taste disturbances have been reported, and nausea, vomiting and reflux make erosion and secondary caries plausible.
This talk sets out what is established, what remains hypothesis, and what to look out for in medical history, examination and prevention when treating patients on GLP-1 therapy.
Finally, we will take enough time for your personal questions and exchange.
