Description
Vestibular enamel opacities represent a frequent esthetic and diagnostic challenge in restorative dentistry. Their etiology ranges from developmental enamel defects and initial carious lesions to structural changes resulting from trauma or fluorosis. Accurate differentiation of these conditions is essential for minimally invasive and long-term successful treatment planning.
Transillumination has become an established, non-invasive diagnostic method for the differentiated assessment of enamel structures. Through targeted light guidance, the extent, depth, and localization of enamel opacities can be reliably evaluated. Particularly in the assessment of vestibular enamel alterations, transillumination provides crucial additional information that often cannot be sufficiently obtained through conventional visual examination alone.
This webinar presents the fundamentals of transillumination, its clinical application, and its significance as a key step in treatment planning. Using clinical case examples, it demonstrates how the diagnostic findings influence therapeutic decision-making - from non-invasive approaches such as resin infiltration or bleaching to restorative treatment options. The aim is to provide participants with a structured diagnostic concept that supports a tooth-preserving, esthetically focused, and prognostically reliable management of vestibular enamel opacities.
Finally, we will take enough time for your questions and personal exchange.
