For many years, we at DMG have been supporting the “Zahnmobil”, a mobile dental clinic of the Hamburg Caritas Association. Recently, the new stationary dental clinic of Caritas was opened in Hamburg. We are of course happy to help here, too.
The “Zahnmobil” is a true success story. The movable dental practice offers homeless people in Hamburg uncomplicated and competent help, where they are. In recent years, the treatment numbers have increased consistently. However, the mobile clinic is reaching its limits.
The treatment focus of the dental mobile lies on acute pain treatment, fillings, and the extraction of teeth. Necessary tooth restorations and treatments that require more intensive diagnostic options (e.g. X-rays) are not possible in the mobile clinic. This is the reason why a stationary facility has now been added to the care offer: After a long planning and reconstruction phase, Caritas opened the first dental clinic for Hamburg homeless people in St. Pauli. The dental practice is equipped with a treatment chair, an X-ray machine, and a hygiene area. Volunteer dentists and permanent dental assistants perform the treatments.
From fillings and tooth extractions to dentures: Many people have already been assisted in the new dental clinic who could not have been treated sufficiently with the mobile clinic alone. The project is well received by the patients, who are exclusively referred by the mobile clinic and by appointment only.
We are delighted to support both the mobile clinic and the new non-profit facility with our materials.
